As Hôpital Sacré Coeur adapted to
constantly shifting circumstances, the
CRUDEM administration and volunteers
scrambled to keep pace with the demand
for medical supplies and equipment.
The Order of Malta stepped up with
generous funding, supplies, and prompt
organization of volunteer physicians.
Malta members Sheila Kearney Cordtz
of Atlanta and Fayne Ansley of North
Carolina promptly cleared their personal
schedules and spent weeks gathering
supplies and loading them on planes.
They recruited pilots Gary Glenna and
others and flew back and forth between
the States and Cap Haitien, delivering
medical supplies, food, bottled water,
diapers and personal hygiene items.
